Dubai’s Long Weekend Just Got Better: Free Eid Al Etihad Experiences You Won’t Want to Miss
Lifestyle

Dubai is gearing up for an unforgettable celebration as the UAE marks its 54th Eid Al Etihad. This year, the city is offering an extended long weekend filled with entertainment, culture, and community spirit — and the best part is that many of the activities are completely free.

From December 1 to 3, neighbourhoods, shopping destinations, and cultural venues across Dubai will welcome residents and visitors with lively programmes that highlight the UAE’s heritage. Expect traditional dance performances, hands-on workshops, outdoor shows, and plenty of family-friendly attractions that bring people together in the true spirit of the Union.

What makes this year even more exciting is the extended holiday. Thanks to the updated public holiday schedule, most residents will enjoy a four-day break from November 29 to December 2, while those in Sharjah can look forward to an even longer rest due to their weekend starting on Friday. With more time to relax and celebrate, it’s the perfect chance to explore the city’s festive offerings without spending a dirham.

Families can stroll through vibrant cultural markets, watch Emirati performances, and enjoy unique showcases that celebrate national identity. Young visitors can take part in creative workshops, from pottery to traditional crafts, while music lovers will be treated to live concerts featuring well-known regional artists. For those seeking something more immersive, museums and cultural institutions will host interactive programmes that shed light on the UAE’s journey and achievements.

As night falls, the city’s skyline becomes the main attraction. Several destinations will put on stunning fireworks and coordinated light shows, creating magical moments for all ages. With popular spots lighting up at different times, visitors have multiple opportunities to catch the dazzling displays.

Near the end of the long weekend, some of the most anticipated highlights begin. On December 1, the annual Eid Al Etihad parade returns to City Walk, bringing together more than 1,000 participants from Dubai Police, local schools, and government entities. The spectacular march features beautifully trained horses and showcases a vibrant spirit of unity.

On December 2, fireworks will illuminate key locations across Dubai, including Dubai Festival City Mall, Bluewaters, Souk Al Seef, The Beach JBR, and Hatta. Visitors can also witness the iconic Burj Khalifa lit up in striking colours, surrounded by fireworks that create a breathtaking citywide spectacle. Global Village will keep the celebrations ongoing with nightly fireworks and synchronised drone shows from December 1 to 3.

Music lovers can enjoy free concerts at City Walk, where Diana Haddad will perform on December 1, followed by Emirati artist Shamma Hamdan on December 2. Meanwhile, malls such as City Centre Mirdif and Ibn Battuta Mall will host creative workshops, cultural performances, interactive digital zones, and art-themed events suitable for all ages.

For those looking to explore the nation’s past, the Etihad Museum will offer special programming from December 1 to 3, including interactive exhibits, heritage performances, VR experiences, and creative stations designed to bring the UAE’s story to life. The building will also be illuminated in the colours of the national flag, adding to the city’s festive atmosphere.

With a long weekend, free attractions, and citywide celebrations, Dubai is set for a vibrant Eid Al Etihad — offering something for everyone to enjoy without stretching their budget. Whether you’re drawn to culture, creativity, music, or fireworks, this year’s celebration promises a memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.
